KARACHI: Former Test cricketers Javed Miandad, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik and Darren Sammy will earn more than PKR1 crore in the inaugural edition of the Pakistan Junior League (PJL), reports claimed.
According to a local publication, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has acquired the services of these professionals for junior league in $50,000 (more than PKR1 crore) each.
Afridi, Malik and West Indies-hailed Sammy will be the mentors of three franchises whereas Miandad will assist them as an overall mentor of the league.
However, a cricketer each will be hired for three more teams in coming weeks. According to the same publication, PCB will spend around PKR7 crores on just hiring mentors for the league.
PJL is scheduled to be played from October 1 to 15 in Lahore. The junior league is a special project for PCB chairman Ramiz Raja who believes that it will lift the standard of cricket talent in Pakistan.
