KARACHI: Following the immense popularity of tape ball cricket in Pakistan, one of the finest stars of this format, Taimur Mirza thinks that it has now become the 'national sport' of the country.

Speaking exclusively to Geo Super on the sidelines of the first-ever International Tape Ball Cricket League (ITBCL), Mirza said he alongside other star players has come a long way in this fastest format of the game.

"Tape Ball cricket has come a long way and I am honored to be a part of its journey in Pakistan," the hard-hitter said. "The growth and following of tape ball cricket have made the lives of many cricketers. This has now become a national sport of Pakistan," he highlighted.

Mirza, who is leading Korangi Kings in ITBCL, credited his parents' prayers and fans' support for his success. "I am thankful to my parents, their prayers have brought me here. Also, my fans are the biggest part of this journey and I am really thankful to them," he said.

To a query about this ongoing high-profile tournament, Mirza asked his fans to pray for their victory. "This tournament is a World Cup of tape ball cricket. We are here with a strong team and I wish and hope for our victory. Pray for us," he concluded.
