MALLORCA: In the opening round of the Mallorca Championships on Wednesday, Stefanos Tsitsipas advanced by defeating Ilya Ivashka 6-4, 6-4.
In his one hour and 23 minutes victory, he didn't encounter a breakpoint.
With just five points lost in the entire match, the number six player in the ATP Rankings dominated behind his first serve.
In part because of his aggressive, first-strike tennis, the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals champion successfully defended his second serve, winning 74% of those points.
“[My] serve [is] very important on these kinds of courts. I think I was managing the situations on my serve very well," Tsitsipas said in his on-court interview.
With victories over Ivashka on hard, clay, and grass courts, Tsitsipas has now won all three of their ATP Head2Head meetings this year.
The American Marcos Giron, who defeated fellow countryman Mackenzie McDonald 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4, will be the Greek's next opponent.
