KARACHI: First-ever International Tape Ball Tournament kicked off here on Monday followed by a glittering opening ceremony.
According to the details, a 12-team tape ball extravaganza caught major limelight after three exciting contests gave an enthralling start to the mega event which will be live on Geo Super throughout.
In the opening match, Inverex Cricket Club beat GFS KDA Strikers by 20 runs. Yahya Khan's unbeaten 40 runs laid down a solid foundation for Inverex Cricket Club who started the tournament on a winning note.
PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators' owners-owned Omer Associates Gladiators beat Kotli Eleven by 10 wickets to embark on a solid start. Rawalpindi-born and brother of international cricketer Rohail Nazir, Tahiri Pindi smashed 65 off 19 to help Gladiators chase down 95 runs in 4.5 overs.
In the last match of the opening day, Kings XI's Asad Shah and Achi Butt ensured a victory for their team against Defence. Asad scored his maiden fifty whereas Butt made 42 as Kings XI scored 124-2 in six overs.
While chasing 125 runs, Defence managed to score just 55 runs.
