MADRID: Real Madrid's new signing, Antonio Rudiger, revealed on Monday that Barcelona were interested in signing him, but he only wanted to join the Los Blancos.

The German international stated that he had no intention of joining the Blaugrana and that Real Madrid was the only Spanish club he was interested in joining.

"There was [a call] from Barcelona," Rudiger said during his introductory press conference on Monday.

"But I told my [agent] it was Real Madrid or nothing."

Rudiger also acknowledged that his agent contacted Real Madrid in September and that he spoke with coach Carlo Ancelotti in April.

"The first time I got in contact, not myself but through my agent, was early September the first time," he revealed.

"The second time was when I spoke with Ancelotti in April. I think that was the most important moment, to speak with Ancelotti, and then I made my choice to play for this club and under him."

Rudiger later confessed that he cheered for Real Madrid in the Champions League final against Liverpool in Paris because he knew he would be joining Los Blancos next season.
