LONDON: Striker Eddie Nketiah Saturday signed a new long-term contract with the Arsenal.

Since his first-team debut in 2017, the 23-year-old has made 92 first-team appearances and scored 23 goals. His contract was set to expire at the end of this month.

He had a strong finish to the season, starting Arsenal's final eight league games and scoring five goals.

"I'm delighted Eddie is staying with us," said manager Mikel Arteta.

"He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club.

"We are very happy that he has extended his contract, and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him."

Arsenal has not specified the length of Nketiah's new contract, just stating that it is "long-term."

Nketiah, who will wear number 14 next season after previously wearing number 30, made his home debut in the Carabao Cup against Norwich City in 2017 and was a member of the FA Cup and Community Shield-winning teams in 2020.
