STAMFORD: Vince McMahon, the chairman, and CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), has stepped down from his post amid an investigation against him for misconduct.

According to reports, McMahon voluntarily stepped down from his post after an inquiry was launched against him, revolving around an alleged $3m (£2.5m) settlement between him and an ex-employee with whom he had a consensual affair.

"Mr. McMahon, 76, had voluntarily stepped back from his responsibilities," the WWE stated.

"His daughter Stephanie, 45, will serve as interim CEO and chairwoman," the statement added.

Reports further claimed that McMahon hasn't responded to the claims directly but assured to provide complete cooperation during the investigation.

"I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are," he said as per reports.
