KARACHI: Pakistani batter Umar Akmal called former Pakistan head coaches Mickey Arthur and Waqar Younis "unprofessional," alleging that he was neglected by management because of their bias toward him.

In an interview with local media, the right-handed batter called the two coaches unprofessional and said that Arthur had "personal issues" with him.

"Mickey Arthur had personal issues with me, but the team management at that time did not raise a voice for me, and they have been silent till today. However, Mickey Arthur later did admit that he used harsh words on me," Akmal said.

"I am among those rare cricketers of Pakistan who have been ignored at every turn," he said.

Akmal added that he had asked former Pakistan skipper and prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan to talk to coaches about his batting position during the 2016 World Cup.

"I asked Imran Khan to recommend team management to send me at number three. Imran Khan himself asked Waqar Younis why I was not a part of the top-order," Akmal said.

Meanwhile, talking about the former Pakistan pacer Waqar, the 32-year-old said he was a legendary pacer fast bowler but criticised him for his style of management.

"I could not understand Waqar as a head coach," he concluded.
