MUMBAI: The intense bidding process to obtain Indian Premier League's (IPL) media rights for the 2023-2027 cycle has concluded, with television rights fetching a massive INR57.5 crore (per match) and digital rights fetching INR50 crore (per match).

According to ANI, the final total for TV rights is INR23,575 crore, while digital rights are valued at INR20,500 crore. The winners' names have yet to be revealed, but, Sony has secured the TV rights, while either Viacom 18 or Jio won the digital rights.

The value of media rights has increased more than two and a half times over what Star India paid in 2017.

The procedure was separated into four bundles (A, B, C, and D). Package A is a TV (broadcast)-only grouping for the Indian subcontinent, whereas Package B, is a digital-only grouping for the same region. The winner would be entitled to broadcast the games digitally across the Indian subcontinent.

There are four distinct packages for which an e-auction is being held, or 74 games every season for five years, with the option of extending the number of games to 94 in the final two years. Package C includes 18 games for each season in digital space.

All games in Package D will be for combined TV and digital rights in international markets.

Each package received a separate bid from each bidder. Bidders for Package A must have a net worth of 1,000 crores; those bidding for other packages must have a net worth of 500 crores. The country's largest media companies were competing for the right to broadcast the world's richest cricket tournament on their platforms.
