PAK vs WI 2022: Police registers FIR against Waqas for trying to escape after entering ground

As per police's statement in the FIR, Waqas tried to escape the scene while rushing towards the crowd on his return after meeting Shadab Khan

MULTAN: Local police has finally registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a fan named Mohammad Waqas Ashraf who ran into the ground during second Pakistan vs West Indies ODI on Friday.

According to the FIR (bearing number 572/22) received by Geo Super here on early Sunday, Waqas has been charged under section 452/188 CR.PC. 

As per police's statement in the FIR, Waqas tried to escape the scene while rushing towards the crowd on his return after meeting Shadab Khan on the pitch. Later on, he was arrested and taken to a police station where his FIR was registered on late June 11. 

However, video footages from the match clearly show that Waqas was caught on the boundary rope immediately. 

As per section 188 CR.P.C, the accused can face imprisonment for maximum six months whereas under section 452, the accused can face imprisonment up to maximum seven years alongside fine. 

A police official told Geo Super that Waqas has been sent for Physical custody.
