LAHORE: Former Pakistan Test cricketer Aqib Javed bashed Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for organizing a cricket series in scorching heat of Multan.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Aqib said cricketers have been put at risk as Pakistan are all set to take on West Indies in first ODI today amid 42 degrees in Multan.

"It is difficult to play ODIs in hot weather," Aqib said. "T20 matches can be played in this season due to its timing and limited overs," he added.

"For fast bowlers, its like playing in the well of death. For batters too, it will be difficult. Quality cricket is not going to happen, and it is just being played for points," the former Test cricketer maintained.

The 48-year-old called it a difficult task for Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shadab Khan who have just returned from England.

"It takes two to three weeks to adjust from cold to hot weather, but it didn't happen. This can affect the performance of the players," he concluded.
