KARACHI: Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has compared India's young pacer, Umran Malik, to legendary Pakistani fast bowler Waqar Younis, saying the Sunrisers Hyderabad's pacer reminds him of Waqar.

Umran, who has attracted immense praise with his sheer pace and fiery deliveries, was sensational for his side in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, also helping him bag the Emerging Player of the Year award.

Lee heaped massive praise on the 22-year-old pacer, who claimed 22 wickets in 14 matches for Hyderabad.

"I am a big fan [of Umran]. I think Umran has got a lot of pace to burn. He is a competitor, a top guy, who runs in like a lot of fast bowlers in the past. Waqar Younis is the person who comes to mind," Brett Lee told ANI.

It should be mentioned here that after a brilliant stint with Hyderabad in IPL 2022, Umran got a call-up for the national T20I team for the home series against South Africa.
