JAKARTA: Pakistan team captain Mohammad Umar Bhutta said they are eyeing World Cup spot through Asia Cup 2022. 

After beating Oman in second Asia Cup practice match on Saturday, Bhutta said they will continue performing in the Asian event. 

"We lost our previous match but boys made an impressive comeback against Oman. This victory gave us confidence and we will try to take this confidence into the main event," the skipper said. 

"Asia Cup is very important for us as it will give us a chance to qualify for World Cup, scheduled in India next year," he added. 

FIH Hockey World Cup is scheduled in India from January 13 to 29. 

Pakistan will play its first match in Asia Cup on May 23 against arch-rivals India followed by second contest against Indonesia on May 24 and against Japan on May 26.
