KARACHI: Manchester City have agreed to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in July 2022.

City will pay the striker's 75 million euro release clause, beating off several other contenders for the 21-year-old, who is set to be one of Europe's best players for the next decade.

While there has been much talk over Haaland's future in recent years, Manchester City looks to have jumped in and closed the transaction fast, averting a massive saga.

The Premier League-leading English club acknowledged the agreement in a statement, however, personal conditions with the player have yet to be finalised.

"Manchester City can confirm we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022," a Manchester City statement read.

"The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player," it added.
