KARACHI: A entertaining 103 from KL Rahul and three wickets from Krunal Pandya helped Lucknow Super Giants hand Mumbai Indians their eight successive loss of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) by 36 runs at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
MI, invited LSG to bat first after winning the toss, and openers Quinton de Kock (10) and Rahul forged a 27-run stand in 3. 4 overs. It was simply a KL Rahul's show with the willow as he smacked four sixes and 12 fours during his 62-ball knock to help his team post 168 in 20 overs.
And while chasing the target, MI got off to a 49-run start, but LSG bowlers did well to not allow them to score at brisk pace as they kept the run-rate under 7.
Ishan Kishan (8) was removed by Bishni, and after that, wickets started to tumble in quick successions as they lost four wickets for 18 runs.
LSG, bowlers were tight with their line and lengths, and as result, the pressure continued to mount on MI. After Ishan, Dewald Brevis (3), Rohit Sharma (39), Suryakumar Yadav (7) all followed one after the other as MI got in sheer trouble.
Tilak Varma (38) displayed some lusty batting, but MI was no where close to reaching the target.
While in terms of bowling for LSG, all bowlers contributed as Mohsin Khan registered figures of 1-27, Dushmantha Chameera was economical as he ended with 0-14 in four overs, while Holder, Bishnoi and Badoni took one.
