LAHORE: Pakistani fiery pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has said that the historic Pakistan-Australia series was tough on the field, but off the field, everything was easy, relaxed, and friendly.

In the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) 39th podcast, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Marnus, and former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad reflected on the Australia tour to Pakistan, which took place after a long gap of 24 years.

The left-arm pacer said that the series helped bridge the gap between the players from the two sides, and despite on-field competitiveness and toughness, off the field, the series was friendly.

"This series has brought players from either side closer than ever. We visited Australia in 2019 and also met their players during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2021, but almost six weeks together has helped bridge the gap. There were tough moments on the field of play, but off the field, everything was easy, relaxed, and friendly.

Talking about the incident with David Warner, where Shaheen and Warner had a funny face-off, he said that the "light-hearted" incident attracted social media reactions, which he enjoyed.

"The incident with David Warner turned out to be an amusing one. It was the last ball of the day and I came very close to David on my follow-through. David has a good sense of humour, so he also stayed there and it made a great shot for the photographers. It was a light-hearted incident and it stayed that way, but both David and I enjoyed the social media reaction in the days that followed," he added.

After winning the Test series by 1-0, the Aussies suffered a 2-1 defeat in the ODI series.

However, the touring party managed to win the one-off T20I to win the historic series.
