KARACHI: Former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar, who was known for some great on-field rivalries with top Indian batters at that time like Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, has recalled an incident that happened after he dismissed the 'Little Master' for zero during the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL) clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Akhtar, who was playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Tendulkar was representing Mumbai Indians, and when the crowd was expecting the homeboy to shine with the willow, he was dismissed by Akhtar in the first over and the fans became hostile towards the pacer as a result.

Akhtar, while talking to Sportskeeda, revealed the entire incident due to which KKR skipper Ganguly was forced to change his field position.

"We had scored really less. When the match began, the atmosphere was electric. It was Sachin's city, Mumbai. It was Sachin Tendulkar vs Shoaib Akhtar and we at KKR had Shah Rukh Khan in the stadium as well," Akhtar said.

"The stadium was fully packed. But I dismissed Sachin Tendulkar in the first over itself and that was a huge mistake. Then I got a lot of abuses when I was at fine leg," he added while recalling the incident.

"Sourav Ganguly told me, 'Come to mid-wicket, these people will kill you. Who told you to dismiss Sachin? That too in Mumbai?'" he revealed.
