MUMBAI: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) skipper has Shreyas Iyer said that he could not believe the way pacer Pat Cummins was striking the ball during his sensational and exceptional 15-ball 56-run knock, which was instrumental in helping KKR beat Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets.
According to the CricTracker, Iyer during the post-match presentation, highly praised Cummins for his entertaining and belligerent inning, as he also informed the way the Aussie pacer was getting out in the nets.
"Extraordinary! I couldn’t believe the way he (Cummins) was striking the ball. Because yesterday when I saw him batting in the nets, he was getting bowled now and then. I was batting in the nets beside him then," Iyer informed.
"During the timeout, the plan was for Venky to drop anchor and tell Pat to just swing at everything because that's what he was doing before too," he added.
"When I went in to bat, I told him to just time the ball because he was overhitting the ball a bit. We have to take responsibility as top-order batters," he stressed.
It is pertinent to mention that in yesterday's match, Cummins was outstanding both with the ball as he picked two wickets, and was exceptional with the willow too, as he smacked six sixes and four fours and displayed pure traits of a proper batter with clean hitting to register the 2nd fastest IPL fifty.
