MUMBAI: Former Indian spin great Harbhajan Singh believes that the new Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ravindra Jadeja needs to stand up as captain and not put his weight on MS Dhoni's shoulders.
It is pertinent to mention that, ahead of this year's Indian Premier League (IPL) season, Dhoni decided to step down as captain and drew curtains on a stellar stint. Jadeja was, given the captaincy charge, however, it hasn't started on a positive note as CSK has gone on to lose three consecutive matches.
Harbhajan while talking on Star Sports, said that he feels Dhoni is still the skipper as Jadeja is shedding some weight on his shoulders.
"I feel that MS Dhoni is still captain of the team. When I look at Jadeja, he is fielding outside the ring. By doing that you won't be able to control too many things but he has given a headache to MS Dhoni to look after the field setting and everything," Harbhajan said.
"He is shedding some of his own weight and putting it on Dhoni's shoulders that 'look after the field setting,'" he added.
However, the former legendary spinner still believes that Jadeja is a very confident guy and he just needs to stand up.
"But I think that overall Jadeja is a very confident guy when it comes to batting and bowling and his skillsets are unbelievable. To get the best out of the team when it is not performing is rare, and he needs to stand up and talk about a few things," he added.
