MUMBAI: Liam Livingstone's all-round show helped Punjab Kings outclass Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 54 runs in the one-sided Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL) clash at the Brabourne Stadium.
CSK, bowling first after winning the toss, kept Kings under early pressure as they reduced them to 14-2. But, it was Livingstone (60) put up a thrilling show as he smashed five sixes and five fours with the willow to help Kings post a huge 180 runs in 20 overs.
And while chasing the 181-run target, CSK never looked like chasing the target as half of their batting line-up was sent back with 36 runs. Both openers Robin Uthappa (13) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (1) were removed by Arora and Rabada with 14 runs on the board.
Next man to get dismissed was Moeen Ali, who had the responsibility to play an important knock on crucial juncture, but miserably failed as he out got on the second ball for a duck with Arora clean bowling.
Shivam Dube (57) did played well as saved CSK from a humiliating total, while MS Dhoni score 23 runs as Kings rolled over their batting line for 126 runs.
Arora bowled exceptionally well as he registered figures of 2-21 in four overs, Rahul Chahar took three, Liam Livingstone who was also great with the ball took two scalps, while Rabada, Smith and Singh took one each.
Kings, while batting first, were helped with a 95-run third wicket stand by Shikar Dhawan (33) and Liam. Jitesh Sharma (26) also played well as he smashed three sixes to take Kings to a great total.
Umesh Yadav was brilliant with figures of 2-23 in four overs.
