Egypt wins Karachi Squash Open Championship

KARACHI: Egypt's Karim Abdel Gawad won the title in men's category whereas his countrywoman Nour Aboulkarim clinched women's title in Karachi Squash Open Championship. 

Ranked 13 in the world, Gawad defeated countryman Youssef Soliman in the final of the championship here on Saturday. Taking a lead of 1-0 by defeating opponent with a score of 11-5, Gawad ensured solid start to the game. 

But, Soliman was keen enough to make a comeback in the next game he did it. He beat Gawad in second round by a score of 11-9.

Eventually, Gawad showed his true potential and won the last game to claim the title. 

In women’s event, Nour Aboulkarim won the final against Hong Kong’s Chan Sin Yuk after she was forced to retire after an ankle injury during the third game. Nour was named the winner as the scoreboard read 2-1.
