BARBADOS: England's right-arm pacer Mark Wood has sustained an elbow injury that has ruled him out of the third Test of the ongoing series against West Indies and this year's cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) where he was to play for the Lucknow Super Giants franchise.

"Scan results have confirmed that Wood has a right elbow injury. He will return to the UK next week for a specialist opinion regarding the management of his injury," a statement on England Cricket's official website read.

"The Durham quick, who was due to play in the Indian Premier League, will now miss the tournament and will have an indefinite break from cricket until more information is determined from the elbow specialist," it added.

It should be noted that the 32-year-old pacer Wood has represented England in 26 Tests, 57 ODIs and 19 T20Is.
