Mahoor, Murad win National DHA 59th National Badminton Championships

A prize bag of PKR 600,000 was distributed among the winners by the chief guests at the closing ceremony

LAHORE: Mahoor Shehzad (Women's) and Murad Ali (Men's) won DHA 59th National Badminton Championships here on Sunday. 

In men's singles, Murad beat WAPDA's Muqeet Tahir by 21-16, 21-19. Followed by Mahoor's victory over Palwasha Bashir who pulled out of the final due to muscle strain. 

In men's doubles, the duo of Raja Hasnain (New Khan) and Raja Zulqarnain (WAPDA) beat Azeem Sarwar (WAPDA) and Murad Ali (KPK) by 22-20 and 21-15. 

WAPDA's pair of Mahoor and Ghazala Siddique defeated Saima Waqas (WAPDA) and Palwasha (Sindh) by 21-15 and 21-16. 

In the mixed doubles, Raja and Palwasha won the final. They won their contest against M Ali Larosh and Ghazala by 21-16, 21-14.

A prize bag of PKR 600,000 was distributed among the winners by the chief guests at the closing ceremony including Administrator DHA Lahore - Brig Waheed Gul Satti and Secretary General Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) - Muhammad Khalil Mahmood.
