Former Irish cricketer Niall O'Brien has revealed that Islamabad United's opening batter Paul Stirling "loves the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and the people of Pakistan" after he returned to the tournament.

Stirling, who has returned to represent Islamabad United in the second eliminator against Lahore Qalandars, had to leave the tournament after the Karachi-leg due to national duty.

After playing eight matches for Ireland in Oman, Stirling had made his comeback and will be available for selection in the do-or-die match against Lahore Qalandars tonight.

O'Brien took to Twitter to say that Stirling loves the PSL and also extended gratitude to the Islamabad United and Cricket Ireland for making his return possible.

"Huge thanks to Islamabad United and Cricket Ireland for working so hard and closely together to ensure Paul Stirling could make it back to the PSL," Niall tweeted.

"The guy loves the PSL and the people of Pakistan and once there was a chance to return he didn’t think twice. Good luck for the game," he added.

Paul Stirling return to the PSL

According to Islamabad United's spokesperson, Paul Sterling will be available for selection in the second eliminator against Lahore Qalandars tonight at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

Stirling was exceptional in the Karachi-leg of the tournament, scoring 187 runs for Islamabad United.

Meanwhile, Alex Hales had also returned to the United squad after pulling out due to personal reasons. Hales played a crucial role in United's Eliminator 1 victory over Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday at the Gaddafi Stadium Lahore.

With the arrival of Paul Stirling, Islamabad United will be a much stronger side, and Lahore Qalandars bowlers will need a plan against Hales and Stirling.
