Peshawar Zalmi started their Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022 campaign in a brilliant style by defeating Quetta Gladiators by five wickets as they chased down a mammoth 191-run target in 19.4 overs courtesy of Shoaib Malik's not-out 48 runs and Hussain Talat's 52 run knocks.

Zalmi who was pathetic with the bowl today had a stiff task of chasing the huge total, but all the batters contributed with quick little cameos, while Malik and Talat were instrumental in the run chase.

Pacer Naseem Shah did well with the ball registering figures 1-19 in 3.4 overs, whereas all other bowlers went to the cleaners.

Quetta Gladiators posted a mammoth 190-run total for the loss of four wickets at the end of 20 overs with Will Smeed playing a sensational 97-run knock-off just 62 balls, and his opening Ahsan Ali also scoring 73 runs as they both smashed the Peshawar Zalmi bowlers in a 155-run opening stand.

Though other batters didn't add much to the total, Smeed who missed out on a well-deserved hundred took the charge leaving Quetta in a good position.

Usman Qadir was the best bowler for Zalmi with figures of 2-20 in four overs, while other bowlers were badly smashed.

Peshawar Zalmi's captain Shoaib Malik won the toss and decided to bowl against Quetta Gladiators in the second match of the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the National Cricket Stadium Karachi.
