Indian Test skipper and star batter Virat Kohli became the top trending player on Twitter for a brilliant and classy 79-run knock in the third Test against South Africa.
In the series-deciding Test at Cape Town, India won the toss and elected to bat first, but never got the fluent start to their innings getting rolled out for just 223, with only Kohli being the top and noticeable performer with a well-fought 79 off 201 balls.
India lost both of their openers with just 33 runs on the board, but Kohli with Cheteshwar Pujara stood in the middle as the pair brought up a 62-run stand, but Pujara was dismissed with 95 runs on the scoreboard.
Kohli also brought up a 51-run partnership with Rishabh Pant for the fifth wicket, but Pant was also dismissed on 27.
But Kohli continued to stand firm against a terrific South African pace attack when pacer Kagiso Rabada finally claimed his key scalp which was the ninth Indian wicket to fall with 211 runs on the board.
Though Kohli missed out on his hundred, his fighting knock keeps India in the hunt in this Test match.
Meanwhile, Twitterati lauded the star batter for his brilliant knock.
