Tributes pour in as road accident claims Turkish footballer Ahmet Calik's life at 27

According to Spor Arena, Ahmet lost his life in a traffic accident as his vehicle went out of control on road between Ankara and Nigde

Tributes on Twitter continue to pour in over the sad passing of the 27-year-old Turkish footballer Ahmet Yilmaz Calik. Ahmet lost his life in a traffic accident as his vehicle went out of control on the road between Ankara and Nigde and was overturned, according to Spor Arena

His vehicle was overturned after he lost its control. Ahmet died on the spot, as doctors came to treat him, but could do nothing. 

Konyaspor, on its official website, informed: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of our football player Ahmet, who has won the love of our fans and our city since the first day he came to our Konyaspor. My condolences to all of us, especially to the family of our football player Ahmet."

"Ahmet will be buried in the family cemetery in Elmadag Cemetery after the funeral prayer, which will be held after the afternoon prayer at Elmadag Sungur Mosque," the tweet informed.

Calik was a defender who was also a player for Genclerbirligi and Galatasaray and also played eight international games for Turkey.
