LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti on Friday announced the provincial government would organise 73rd Punjab Games in Lahore from January 24 to 27 next year.

"Punjab Games has been on a halt for long, and this government has tried to arrange the games on a regular and consistent basis," Khan said in a press conference.

Revealing further details about the games, Taimoor said: "There will be men's competitions in twenty-four sports disciplines, while women's competitions will be held in eight sports categories."

About the new inclusions in next year's games, he said that for the first time, special children, as well as para-athletics would be made part of the 2022 Punjab Games.

About the number of participating players, he stated more than 4,000 players would partake in next year's Punjab games.

And before the Punjab Games, competitions will also be held at Tehsil and Division level, Khan added.

"Cash prizes will also be awarded to the players who will be taking part in next year's provincial games," he concluded.
