India bags bronze medal in Asian Champions Trophy 2021 after beating rivals Pakistan by 4-3

India outclassed Pakistan by 4-3 in the thrilling third-place encounter to achieve a bronze medal in the Men's Asian Champions Trophy 2021 in Dhaka.

Both Pakistan and India were edged out from the tournament after South Korea thumped Pakistan by 6-5 in the first semi-final and Japan beat India by 5-3 in the second. 

In the interesting bronze medal match, India started the game in an attacking style as Harmanpreet Singh scored the goal in just the second minute of the match, as Pakistan's Afraz brought things level in the 10th minute.

Though, the second quarter went goalless as both teams ended the first half with one goal each.

Pakistan's Rana put his team 2-1 ahead by scoring the goal in the 33rd minute, as India's midfielder Sumit once again equalised the match.

The last ten minutes of the game were full of intense hockey as both teams displayed some attacking hockey, and India's Varun put them 3-2 ahead in the 53rd minute, while Akashdeep doubled the lead three minutes later.

Pakistan's Nadeem brought hope by scoring in the 57th minute to make it 4-3, but India successfully defended their lead as they clinch the important match against arch-rivals Pakistan to achieve a bronze medal.

The final of Men's Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2021 will be played between South Korea and Japan today.
