The legendary 33-years-old UFC fighter from Ireland, Connor McGregor has bashed his former Russian rival Khabib Nurmagomedov.

McGregor in a Twitter discussion entered into the controversy with William Harris who is known both for his skill as a filmmaker and his passion for the subject of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).

Nurmagomedov is now a year into his retirement ever since his last fight on October 24, 2020 when he thumped United States Justin Gaethje via Technical Submission in the second round.

Connor, speaking about Khabib's early retirement, said:"Khabib bid goodbye to fighting early, and never decided to move up to a heavyweight class than a lightweight, which definitely affects his legacy."

McGregor added: "He was a good fighter for those few weeks, hahaha. However, retiring takes you off all the lists. He was good, but not great, he has low KO rate. He retired early."
