Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo on Thursday scored his 800th career goal to steer United to victory against Arsenal in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo became the first football player in history to score 800+ goals.

The newly appointed interim manager Ralf Rangnick watched from the stands as Manchester United sealed a close 3-2 win against Arsenal.

United were put behind after Emile-Smith Rowe's early controversial goal — the 21-year-old's shot found the back of the net with David De Gea injured on the ground after teammate Fred stepped on his foot but the goal was given after a VAR check.

The Red Devils hit back through the Portuguese Bruno Fernandes at the last minutes of the first half.

Cristiano Ronaldo turned the game on its heads just after seven minutes into the second half — scored the 800th goal of his career to help United take the lead but Martin Odegaard scored a leveller just after two minutes.

Cristiano Ronaldo again got the chance to take the lead for United when Fred was fouled inside the box, following a VAR check Manchester United were given a penalty — which Cristiano Ronaldo converted from the penalty spot in the 70th minute to make it 3-2 for United.

It was a much-needed victory for Manchester United as they were without a win in the last four Premier League games at Old Trafford.

Interim boss Ralf Rangnick will take charge of Manchester United in the game against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
