Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has praised Bernardo Silva after his sensational goal against Aston Villa on Wednesday, which helped City to seal the win over Aston Villa at the Villa Park.

Pep Guardiola lauded the Portuguese midfielder and said that he is the "best".

“He is the best. He was the best two or three seasons ago. He was the best then too. He has a special ability to do whatever he wants with the ball. Against a good goalkeeper it was an incredible finish," Pep Guardiola said as quoted by Sky Sports.

“You have to go back to when we won with 98 points, review the videos, you will see the same player like this right now," he added.

Manchester City defender Ruben Dias opened the scoring for Manchester City and towards the end of the first half, Bernardo Silva's spectacular volley earned Guardiola's City a 2-1 win.

Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins scored a goal at the 47th minute but the hosts could not find an equalizer.

The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach was "impressed' by Aston Villa and said that beating them is an "incredible" step for City.

"To come here against this opposition, I was really impressed with who they are, and to be able to beat them is an incredible step for us," he said.

Pep also said that despite Manchester City's rough start to the Premier League, they are performing at a high level at the moment.

"The importance is being there [at the top]. We’ve had an incredibly tough first part of the league, we are there one point behind. The important thing is the way we are performing, the way we are performing is a high level," he added.
