Former Indian batsman turned politician Gautam Gambhir received a third threat in a week after previously receiving a letter from Daesh Kashmir on Sunday as officials of Delhi police close to the case said.

This was the third such threat he received, with four days after terrorist group allegedly sent two letters within a gap of few hours.

The terrorist-based outfit also mentioned Delhi Police in the mail that they have sent to Gambhir on Sunday, news agency ANI mentioned on Twitter.

He also urged police to register a FIR and provide him protection as security around his house beefed up, while a probe was ordered.

Gautam Gambhir in a letter to Shweta Chauhan who is the deputy police commissioner (central) of Delhi police claimed the threat email read, "We're going to kill you and your family."

But, within the hours of that first email, Gambhir claimed to have received another email that purportedly contained a video footage from outside his residence attached to it.

A probe by cyber cell as well as special cell of Delhi police reportedly traced the earlier email to an IP address in Pakistan's city of Karachi.
