What is 'Bruised' movie all about?
'Bruised' is a sports movie which shows the story of an MMA fighter who battles to come back from devastating blow
The sports film ''Bruised,'' directed by Halle Berry who also plays a lead role of an MMA fighter, Jackie Justice, leaves viewers wondering whether the film is based on a real MMA fighter or not.
However, Jackie Justice is not a real person nor an MMA fighter, but a character created by Berry as well as the show ''Bruised'' is also not based on any real-life person or event. It's only based on MMA fighter's story who battles to come back from a devastating blow to her career.
Speaking to New York Times about how she related to character, Berry said: "I understand being marginalised as a Black woman and the anger, resentment, fear, and frustration that comes with all of that."
She added: "If I could put all of that into this movie, all the things that I know so well, then I knew I could create a character that will not only be real but will resonate with women of different races, too."
The film also received a short release on November 17, 2021 and was also premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2020 in September, and arriving on Netflix on November 24.
