Ex-England captain Michael Vaughan has lauded the appointment of Rahul Dravid as Indian head coach following Men In Blue's dismal performance in the T20 World Cup.

Praising the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the former cricketer termed it as a "great, great appointment".

Dravid will take charge of the Indian cricket team after the T20 World Cup 2021 ends and Ravi Shastri leaves the office.

"Great great appointment, I think Rahul Dravid is going to make a fantastic head coach for #India," Vaughan tweeted.

Dravid played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs between 1996 and 2012 and totalled more than ten thousand runs in both formats. He was previously in charge of India's under-19 and 'A' teams.

Dravid is expected to take charge from the home series against New Zealand which starts at the end of November. India will play three T20 internationals and two tests.
