Pak vs India T20 World Cup: Kohli was asked in a post-match press conference whether Ishan Kishan would replace Rohit Sharma

Indian captain Virat Kohli hit back at a reporter who questioned him about Rohit Sharma’s inclusion in the Playing XI, after Pakistan edged India by 10 wickets in their T20 World Cup opener.

Babar Azam-led Green Shirts emerged victorious against arch-rivals and tournament-favourites, team India on Sunday after handing them a historic 10-wicket defeat in Dubai on Sunday.

Following the big clash, Kohli was asked in a post-match press conference whether Ishan Kishan would be considered in the upcoming games in place of Rohit Sharma.

Kohli retorted to the question, calling it “very brave” and asked the journalist if what he was looking for was only controversy.

"It's a very brave question. What do you think sir? What do you think the team [should be?] I played the team I thought was the best. What is your opinion? Will you drop Rohit Sharma from T20 internationals?” he said

“Will you drop Rohit Sharma? After what he did for us in the last game? Yeah? (Smiles embarrassedly) Unbelievable. If you want controversy please tell me before so I can answer accordingly,” he added.

Sharma was sent back to the hut with a golden duck against Pakistan on Sunday, getting dismissed LBW by Shaheen Shah Afridi’s stunning in-swinging yorker.

Afridi’s early-wicket haul set the tone for the match as Pakistan refused to relinquish control throughout the game with openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan powering the team towards a 10-wicket win with their unbeaten half-centuries while chasing the 152-run target.
