Bangladesh kept their hopes of the Super 12s stage berth alive as they thumped Oman in the must-win clash by 26 runs on Tuesday.

The star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round performance of 42 runs and 3 wickets.

During the presentation, Shakib said that: "Obviously it (loss to Scotland) hurt the whole team because we were not expecting it. Oman played really good cricket, but we held our nerve. I think this win will settle our nerves. We have another game which we have to win and we have to see what happens in the game between Oman and Scotland.

While, during the sixth and first-round crucial match between Bangladesh and Oman, Tigers posted 153 all out after their captain decided to bat first.

In reply to the 154-run chase, Oman got off to the worst start as the first wicket of Aaqib Ilyas fell for 13.

Though the home team's innings saw small second and third wicket partnerships of 34 and 35 runs, after that, it was a sorry tale for the host nation as only Jatinder Singh remained the top-scorer with 40 runs of 33 balls.

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman and Shakib remained the stand out bowlers.

The left-armer claimed 4-36 in four overs, while Shakib took 3-28, as Oman ended their innings at 127-9 in 20 overs losing the game by 26 runs.

While batting first, Bangladeshi opener Mohammad Naim played a brilliant knock of runs off 50 balls with three maximums, while all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan notched up 42 runs.

After being 21-2, Shakib and Naim steered the ship by putting up a third-wicket partnership of 80 runs which ended with Shakib's dismissal.

Though others failed to reach double digits, the skipper Mahmudullah's quick-fire cameo of 17 from 10 balls took the total to 153.

From the bowling side, Bilal Khan, Kaleemullah and Fayyaz Butt remained the stand-out bowlers.

Bilal Khan was the most economical bowler with 3-18 in four overs, while Kaleeullah took 2 and Butt claimed 3 scalps.

Group 2 stands in an interesting position, with Scotland achieving four points, while Oman and Bangladesh have two points each with one game to play.
