Australia’s star left-hander David Warner has been experiencing a lean patch in recent times, but his teammate, Glenn Maxwell, has come forward in his support.

The all-rounder has asked the people to not underestimate the star just yet and that he will shine with the bat again. Warner had a terrible run in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the first half of the tournament, he wasn’t able to score big runs and was sacked as the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper.

Warner was also dropped from the side due to the dip in his form. In the UAE part of the IPL as well, he did not regain form and featured in only two games for his side.

In Australia’s first warm-up match against New Zealand, Warner was dismissed for a duck.

New Zealand's Martin Guptill completed a remarkable catch to sent Warner back to the hut.

But despite his bad form, Maxwell has backed the batter. He also termed Warner as the star of all the three formats and pinned hopes on him to perform in the mega-event.

“If you ever doubt Davey, it’s an absolute no-no. You know he’s going to turn it around. He’s a superstar of all three formats. He’s amassed so many runs. He’s going to go down as one of the greats of the game.

But you know when he gets out there come game time, the October 23, regardless of what happens in the next practice game, you know he’s going to hit the ground running. He’s going to be a big player for us,” Maxwell said as reported by cricket.com.
