Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq is opening up about openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s need to improve their strike-rate.

The former cricketer said on his YouTube channel that the skipper and the wicketkeeper-batsman need to improve their rate of scoring.

“Babar and Rizwan have played exceedingly well in the last couple of years but I still feel that they should increase their strike-rate,” said Inzamam shortly after Pakistan defeated West Indies in the first warm-up match of the tournament in Dubai.

“Pakistan is relying heavily on Babar and Rizwan. If they don’t score at a good strike rate, the team will find itself in a difficult situation. They need to take advantage of the first six overs, especially in matches against good teams,” he said.

Pakistan chased down a target of 131 in 15.3 overs with Babar scoring 50 off 41 balls while Rizwan scored 13 runs in 17 balls.

“Pakistan chased down the total with more than three overs to spare but that was largely due to Fakhar Zaman’s 24-ball 46,” added Inzamam.

The team will face South Africa on October 20 in Abu Dhabi for their second and final warm-up match.

The Green Shirts will officially kick start their T20 World Cup campaign with the highly-anticipated clash with India on October 24 in Dubai.
