Legendary batsman Javed Miandad has slammed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for showing leniency towards players involved in spot-fixing and corrupt activities.

The former skipper, in a video on YouTube, equated the menace of fixing matches to "killing someone", suggesting that those who indulge in such activities must be given capital punishment.

"PCB is not doing the right thing by forgiving them. Spot-fixers should be hanged because it is similar to killing someone and so the punishment should also be on the same lines. An example should be set so that no players even thinks about doing something like this," he said.

Miandad said that cricket as a sport had to be a source of entertainment for the masses and not something that adds to their troubles.

"Cricket is game which spread happiness. When you score a hundred the entire nation celebrates it. When we won the World Cup, the entire world praised us," he said.

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi is also of the view that the PCB could do more than just give a slap on the wrist of players found guilty of corruption.
