Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli has created IPL history as he becomes the first player to participate in 250 matches for a single team.

The 35-year-old is playing against Delhi Capitals tonight which marks his 250th game for RCB. Second on the list is MS Dhoni, who has played 233 games for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Rohit Sharma is third on the list with 211 appearances for Mumbai Indians.

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season for RCB, Kohli has delivered remarkable performances, accumulating 634 runs in 12 IPL matches at a strike rate of 153.51 and an average exceeding 70. He currently holds the Orange Cap in IPL 2024 (awarded to the highest run-scorer in an IPL season).

During RCB's recent encounter against Punjab Kings, Kohli smashed 92 runs off just 47 balls. His explosive innings comprised 7 boundaries and an impressive count of 8 sixes. His stellar batting display silenced critics who had cast doubts on his strike rate in T20 cricket.

It must be noted Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are the only team to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs, and the battle for the remaining top-four positions remains intense.

RCB, currently placed 7th in the points table with 10 points from 12 matches, have a tough pathway to enter the IPL 2024 playoffs.

To achieve this, they must secure big margin wins against Delhi Capitals tonight and Chennai Super Kings on May 18.

Additionally, RCB's chances depend on Mumbai Indians defeating Lucknow Super Giants on May 17 and Gujarat Titans failing to win at least one of their remaining two league stage matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad also need to lose both of their games which are against Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans.

In this scenario, RCB, DC, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and CSK will all finish the league stage with 14 points. The team advancing to the playoffs will be determined by net run rate (NRR), with the team possessing the superior NRR earning the playoff berth.
