India's batter Virat Kohli responded to the criticism surrounding his batting strike rate after his fifty contributed to Royal Challengers Bangalore's nine-wicket victory against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

There have been questions about his strike rate in the middle overs, but the 35-year-old remains undeterred by it.

“All the people who talk about [my] strike rate and me not playing spin well are the ones who love to talk about these things. But for me, it is just about winning the game. There’s a reason why you do it for 15 years. Because you do this day in and day out and won games for your team,” said Kohli after the Gujarat Titans game.

“I am not sure if you haven’t been in that situation, to sit and speak about the game from the box. I don’t think it is the same thing. I am just doing my job. People can talk about their own ideas and assumption on the game (sic),” added Kohli.

It must be noted Kohli remained unbeaten on 70 while Will Jacks, batting at number three, smashed an unbeaten 100 runs.

Together, they forged a partnership of 166 runs for the second wicket, chasing down the target of 201 with 24 balls to spare. RCB achieved a score of 206 for 1 in 16 overs.

Earlier, Gujarat Titans posted a total of 200 for 3 after choosing to bat first.

Sai Sudharsan (84 not out) and Shahrukh Khan (58) both scored half-centuries to propel Gujarat to the 200-run mark.

For RCB, Swapnil Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Glenn Maxwell each claimed a wicket.
