New Zealand has decided to abandon its Pakistan tour over security concerns.

According to an official statement released by the New Zealand cricket on Twitter, the team will no longer continue its ODI tour, minutes before its first match in Rawalpindi.

The statement added that the guests were now planning for their immediate departure.

Players were been told to remain in their rooms and not venture out.

Meanwhile the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took to Twitter to give clarity on their end.

The PCB said that the security officials with the New Zealand team have been satisfied with security arrangements made by the Pakistan government throughout their stay here.

The board added that it was willing to reschedule to series.
