Pakistani Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has some spot-on advice for all girls wanting to try their hand at cricket: pick up a bat and go!

The 24-year-old activist for female education, who is also a global icon for women empowerment, spoke to Sky Sports and delivered a message to all girls who have been discouraged from playing sports because of their gender.

“My message to girls who follow my story is that you have to believe in yourself,” said Yousafzai.

“Even today when we see women cricket players playing in this stadium, they are sending a message to all girls out there that they can be in sports,” she continued.

“Nobody should tell them that their gender does not allow them to be in that sport. I think we already seeing so many women role models who are changing history.”

“I hope that we don’t limit women from going to any position that they dream of. I want to tell all girls, just try it. Give it a try! If you enjoy it, go for it. We are there to support you,” she added.
