ISLAMABAD: Emerging all-rounder Jahandad, in an exclusive talk to Geo News, recalled his stint with Lahore Qalandars in the ninth edition of PSL, and revealed what he learned from captain Shaheen Shah Afridi.

The 20-year-old impressed everyone with his power hitting, however, his bowling was not as effective in the tournament.

"I never thought that I would play competitive cricket like PSL one day. I played my entire professional cricket within the last year," he said.

"It was very fruitful for me to play under the coaching of Aqib Javed. He suggested me to focus on natural gameplay. He said that power-hitting is my natural game hence I should confidently do power-hitting which turned out to be beneficial for me as well as Lahore Qalandars," he added.

Jahandad maintained that he learned a lot from Captain Shaheen Afridi on technical aspects of his bowling

"Shaheen taught me a lot when I played under his captaincy for Lahore Qalandars. He taught me technical points of slow ones, in swing yorkers and cutters. He is the number one fast-bowler in the world for a reason." he added, "I used to stay with Zaman Khan, Shaheen and Haris Rauf during the nets whereas Van Der Dussen also gave me tips."

Meanwhile, he revealed that he does special training in power-hitting while training in his club.

"I regularly undergo special sessions of power-hitting because practice makes your power-hitting perfect. Power-hitting practice will enhance the skills of hitting sixes and ultimately it helped me a lot during PSL," he added.

Jahandad calls first-class cricket a very important path for any professional cricketer. "I have played 5 first-class matches taking 21 wickets where I have bowled around 140 overs. Long spells in red ball cricket help make T20 cricket easier for you," he added.
