DOHA: Tunisia beat France in a thrilling 1-0 win at the Education City Stadium, but they couldn't advance to the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022.

In an interesting contest, Wahbi Khazri gave Tunisia the lead in the 58th minute, which was the only goal of the contest.

Tunisia scored in the eighth minute as Nader Ghandri struck a Khazri free-kick past goalkeeper Steve Mandanda, but it was given offside.

France forward Antoine Greizmann scored a stoppage-time equaliser, but it was disallowed after a thorough VAR check, giving relief to Tunisia.

The North African side's fate was not in their own hands as their qualification to the round of 16 also demanded a loss to Australia against Denmark.

Unfortunately, Australia upset a formidable Denmark side at the Al Janoub Stadium to book their spot in the knockout stages for only the second time in history.

With the win, Australia advanced to the knockout rounds in second place behind the defending champions France in Group D and will face the Group C group winner, which is currentlyPoland, who is currently leading that group going into the last round of matches.

Earlier, Tunisia had drawn against Denmark and were handed a 1-0 loss by Australia in the first two games of the World Cup.

Didier Deschamps made substantial changes to his team for the clash against Tunisia. Star forward Kylian Mbappe was left out, with Randal Kolo Muani of Eintracht Frankfurt starting up front in his place.

Axel Disasi made his World Cup debut for France at a right-back, and Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga made his debut at left-back.
