MUZAFFARABAD: Shahzab scored 40 runs off 18 balls to help Jammu Janbaz beat Overseas Warriors by five wickets in the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) season 2 here at Muzaffarabad Cricket Stadium on Monday.

The young batter caught major limelight by playing a match-winning knock laced with four maximums and two boundaries. He handed Janbaz their first victory in the tournament.

Sharjeel Khan smoked 29 runs including towering six, that broke the window glass, and four boundaries.

Azaz Khan made 17 runs. Karachi's Sohail Khan bagged a maiden hat-trick of KPL 2. He took three wickets for 14 runs.

Earlier, Azam Khan and Imran Randhawa made the most of rainy conditions and hit quick 47 runs to help Overseas Warriors score 101-3 against Jammu Janbaz in eight-overs-a-side contest.

After rain delayed the play on the third day, the two teams had to play a reduced overs match. Janbaz won the toss and asked Warriors to bat first.

Openers Mohammad Shahzad and Kamran Ghulam scored quick 30 runs in three overs to set the tone for the Warriors. Shahzad scored 17 while Ghulam made 15 including a six.

Azam thereafter looked in solid form as he smacked three boundaries and a six alongside Randhawa who made 29 off 12 balls laced a boundary and three sixes.
