KARACHI: Dinesh Karthik has made it into India's T20I squad for the South Africa series as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has rested skipper Rohit Sharma and batter Virat Kohli.

The veteran wicket-keeper batter has received a recall after his sensational stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Karthik has provided some match-winning performances for RCB, helping them reach the playoffs of the tournament.

The 36-year-old took to Twitter and thanked for all the support.

"If you believe yourself, everything will fall into place! Thank you for all the support and belief. The hard work continues," Karthik wrote.

Apart from Dinesh, India have included Sunrisers Hyderabad's Umran Malik and Punjab Kings' Arshdeep Singh for the T20I series against South Africa, while KL Rahul has been given the captaincy role in the absence of Rohit.

India will clash with South Africa in the opening match of the T20I on 9 June at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
