James Hinchcliffe took an impressive second place from the 2006/07
Sprint race at Brno, Czech Republic; even more of an
achievement when considering it was only his second
event in the maple leaf clad car. As a key driver for
the team this season there is every possibility he will
be standing proud on the podium again.
The team proved in the first season that it had what
it takes to finish among the top ten in the championship
and narrowly missed out on a repeat performance last
season.

A1 Team China is a perfect example of how motorsport can receive
patriotic support in a country without a strong motorsport
background. A1 Team China proved itself to be one of
the fastest developing teams in the inaugural season.
Starting the inaugural season seven seconds behind the fastest
car at the first test session at Silverstone in August
2005, A1 Team China continued to improve, the highlight
being a fifth place in the Feature race in Dubai.
This got even better last season. The team scored it's
first podium of the season with a sensational Feature
race in Eastern Creek, Australia. Ho-Pin Tung drove
around the outside of Jeroen Bleekemolen’s A1 Team Netherlands
car to move into third.
The team was named the Most Improved Team at the A1GP
gala awards at the end of last season, thanks to moving
up from 22nd to 15th in the rankings.

A1 Team Czech Republic had a good 2005/06 season, scoring points
consistently and improving through the season. Tomas
Enge, as the main driver for the team managed to score
ten top ten finishes with three podium finishes. The
highlight for the team came at the final race in Shanghai,
when Enge won a fantastic Feature race ahead of A1 Team
Malaysia’s Alex Young. In the second season the team
finished 12th in the overall standings with seven top-ten
finishes.
Enge has been the most capped driver for A1 Team Czech
Republic, having taken part in 34 races. Perhaps the
most memorable was not the victory in China, but the
second place in Brno last season, which at that point,
was the highest a driver had finished at their home
A1GP event.
Seat holder of the team, Antonin Charouz is no stranger
to racing either, competing in various Touring Car Championships
and Hill Climbing Races. Antonin also uses his experience
to help and look after the careers of young Czech drivers.

A1 Team France has had mixed fortunes over the past two years.
Drivers Alexandre Prmat and Nicolas Lapierre dominated
the inaugural A1GP title fight with a total of 13 wins
out of 22 races, three pole positions, and five fastest
laps.
It is only compared to A1 Team France’s domination in 2005/06 that
the 2006/07 season could be classed as a disappointment
for them. A1 Team France failed to occupy the top podium
position but while a victory eluded the tri-color team,
Nicolas Lapierre and Loic Duval were regular visitors
to second and third place on the podium and a healthy
points tally equated to a strong fourth place in the
overall standings for 2006/07.
The third season is a chance for Team France to refocus and bounce
back as a team capable of winning.

A1 Team Germany was the success story of the 2006/07 season. In
A1GP’s first year Germany achieved a respectable 15th
final position but that was blown out of the water during
2006/07 as the team led the championship for nearly
the entire season and had won the title with the final
event still to be contested.
Teenager Nico H?lkenberg won the first Feature race in Zandvoort
which proved to be the first of many. In fact, he became
the driver to win the most races, and lead the most
laps in A1GP’s history.
Seat Holder Willi Weber will be supporting the 2007/08 drivers
at the wheel of the black, red and yellow machine and
together they embark on the mammoth task of trying to
repeat Team Germany’s stunning performance.

A1 Team Great Britain was the first team to achieve glory on home
turf in the Sprint race at Brands Hatch 2006/07. A double
celebration ensued as the final chequered flag of the
season was waved and Great Britain finished third overall
in the championship standings. However, their season-long
battle with Team New Zealand for second place had been
lost…by one mere point.
Robbie Kerr took to the wheel of the distinctive red, white and
blue car for the majority of the season and secured
two wins, seven podiums and two fastest laps. The 27-year-old-driver,a
former British Formula 3 champion, will be joined by
Oliver Jarvis who also proved he had what it takes to
top the field when he won in Mexico City. The pair will
return for the 2007/08 season looking to continue the
strong results that emerged at the end of last season,
making them serious contenders for the A1GP World Cup
of Motorsport. Oliver Turvey joins the team as Rookie.

A1 Team India gave its new breed of motorsport fans something to
cheer about as it scored its best result (fourth) in
the last race of the 2006/07 season at Brands Hatch,
indicating it is on the road to scoring a podium position
in the 2007/08 season. India is not a nation famed for
motorsport so finishing 16th overall last season is
a fantastic achievement and a solid foundation on which
to build motivation and support for its bid in A1GP’s
third season.
Narain Karthikeyan is the nation's top motorsport talent and after
taking part in the final eight races of the 2006/07
season for A1 Team India he returns to the team on the

A1 Team Indonesia is one of the smaller teams on the grid but that
does not make them any the less potent.
The first two seasons of A1GP proved to be a steep learning curve
for the team and drivers of A1 Team Indonesia. New tracks
and high international racing standards meant that good
results and championship points were hard to come by.
Off the track the team has endeavored to increase interest in motorsport
among young Indonesians, embarking on program to encourage
new drivers. If the passion Indonesian fans have shown
for the series is anything to go by, it won’t be long
before A1 Team Indonesia has a large pool of talent
to select from.

A1 Team Malaysia starts the 2007/08 season third on the all-time
list of A1GP winners, having taken four victories in
the first two seasons, including a famous double at
Brno, in the Czech Republic.
Local hero Alex Young is A1 Team Malaysia's key driver. He is the
most successful racing driver to hail from Malaysia
and joint most-capped driver in A1GP. He starts the
2007/08 season with 41 race starts, beating A1 team
Indonesia's Ananda Mikola.
Alex's breakthrough came in 2001 when as Malaysia's only driver
to reach Formula One, he was contracted with the Minardi
F1 team for the end of the 2001 World Championship season.
His 15 races in Formula 1 in 2001 and 2002 yielded best
results of seventh in the 2002 Australian Grand Prix
and tenth in the 2002 French Grand Prix.
As well as being the team's main driver, Alex is also
part of the very successful management team that brought
A1 Team Malaysia to the front of the grid in the first
season.

A1 Team Mexico had a difficult first half to the 2005/06 season,
after a podium finish in the first race at Brands Hatch
promised good results, some disappointing races followed.
The team’s performance in the second half of the season
yielded vast improvements, results including the double
victory at Laguna Seca.
Four podium finishes last season led to a tenth-place
championship finish, however, the team has suffered
the worst performance at home of any team failing to
finish in the points position at and of its home race.
After the first season’s first-lap accident in Monterrey
which ruined the meeting for driver Salvador Duran,
lighting effectively struck twice in Mexico City last
year, after he was involved in another first lap accident.
He did, however, get back out on track to claim the
bonus point for fastest lap.

Tokyo Sexwale heads up A1 Team South Africa. A former political
prisoner with Nelson Mandela, he was elected the first
Premier of South Africa’s prestigious Province Gauteng
during the Mandela presidency.
Now a prominent South African industrialist, Sexwale
is a firm believer in economic patriotism, and is deeply
committed to pursuing the dream of economic prosperity
and democracy in South Africa. This overriding commitment
of Sexwale to South Africa, its democracy and its people
fits in perfectly with the patriotic nature of A1GP.
The team suffered an inconsistent 2006/07 with both
highs and lows. They burst into the season on a high,
taking their maiden victory in the very first race at
Zandvoort. Adrian Zaugg fought hard with Mexico’s Salvador
Duran in the opening laps, but was strong enough to
re-pass and ultimately take the Sprint race win.
However, the team ended up 14th in the championship
standings, and scored only one more podium finish after
their win. Zaugg was again behind the wheel and took
third in the Mexico Feature race.

The inaugural season of A1GP proved to be a challenge for A1 Team
USA but the lessons learned were put into practice the
following year resulting in an impressive ninth position
in the overall standings.
Peter Briggs joins the team as manager for 2007/08 with a wealth
of motorsport experience and motivation. A1 Team USA
has never achieved a win but has come very close by
crossing the finish line second on three occasions.
The third season could be the one in which spectators
will see the stars-and-stripes dressed car take the
chequered flag ahead of the rest. According to Seat
Holder Rick Weidinger, if Team USA continues to improve
at the same rate as previous seasons it will finish
in the top five for season three but he expects, “even greater results.”
