The ‘World Cup
of Motorsport Trophy’, designed by A1GP Founder, Sheikh
Maktoum, was created in the spirit of global unity
that is at the core of the series and pays homage
to the history of competitive sport, with every aspect
of the design lending its own unique symbolism to
the trophy.
Representing the nations of the world united in support
of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport are the sterling
silver base and support stem engraved with 192 flags.
The intertwined laurel wreaths adorning the trophy
are silver and gold plated (the precious metals traditionally
associated with the Olympic Games) and allude to the
crowning glory of champions in ancient times.
The focal point of the trophy, with its brilliant
red color, is the 100 carat precious stone, mounted
on a silver plated piston from an A1GP race car and
encased in a hand carved rock crystal globe, symbolising
the heart at the centre of the world of A1GP.
Standing at a height of 70 centimeters and weighing
an impressive 18 kilograms, the trophy is a striking
accolade to excellence and sportsmanship in the global
arena.
